How to set up a redirect by Referrer URL?

Updated over 3 months ago

The "Redirect by Referrer URL" feature in NoSpy allows you to redirect visitors based on the website or page that brought them to your Shopify store. This is especially useful for filtering traffic from specific sources, like competitor sites, suspicious domains, or known spy tools.

Here are the process on you can set this type of redirect rule:

1. Open your Shopify admin and select the “Apps” option from the sidebar menu.

2. At the top of the page, you’ll see a handy drop-down list of all your installed apps.

3. Simply find and click on the “NoSpy – Protect Data” app from the list. This will take you right to the NoSpy dashboard.

4. Under the app section, you will see the NoSpy app's main sidebar menu.

5. On the sidebar menu, click on the “Redirects” option.

6. On the next page, you will see a list of settings to configure.

7. Click on the "Redirect Referrer URL" tab to set up your redirects by IP address.

8. Next, you’ll be taken to a page where you can configure the redirect settings.

9. The first field will be for "Redirect name". This is optional, though it can be very helpful for you to organize and easily identify your redirect rules by setting up a name for that redirect rule.

10. You’ll then see a field to select a country. Visitors from the selected country will automatically be redirected to your specified URL.

11. The next field will be for "Referrer URL". This is the URL of the website or page that brought them to your Shopify store. Referrer URLs are commonly used in web analytics to track and analyze the traffic sources of a website. Any URL that you provide in this field will be redirected to the page that you wish them to be redirected to.

12. In the “Redirect to:” field, enter the URL you want visitors from the selected country to be redirected to.

13. On the right side of the page, you’ll find two additional widgets to help complete your redirect setup.

14. “Rule Status” allows you to control whether your redirect rule is active or not. Once you’ve finished setting everything up, be sure to set the status to “Enable” and click “Save” to activate the rule.

15. “Rule Summary” provides a quick overview of the redirect rule you’ve configured, so you can easily review your settings at a glance.
