The Allowed Bot Access feature in NoSpy ensures that legitimate, verified bots can access your Shopify store even while your protection rules are active. These whitelisted bots are essential for SEO, analytics, and other important services that help your business grow.
By default, NoSpy allows trusted bots like Googlebot, BingBot, and other verified crawlers to access your store without being blocked or redirected. This means your store remains protected from malicious traffic while staying visible to search engines and analytics tools.
To view and manage your allowed bot access, please follow the steps below:
Navigate to your Shopify admin and click on the "Apps" option on the sidebar menu.
You will see a drop-down list in the upper section of the page.
Select and click the "NoSpy-Protect Data" app.
Under the app section, you will see the NoSpy app's main sidebar menu.
On the sidebar menu, click on the "Settings" option.
Navigate to the "Spy, Spam, and Sales Protection" tab, and look for “Allowed bot access" section.
In this section, you'll see a table listing all verified bots that have secure access to your store. The table includes three columns:
Each bot listed has been validated for safety and does not pose a threat to your store. You can individually enable or disable any bot by clicking the toggle switch in the "Action" column.
The verified bots include popular crawlers such as:
aHrefs Bot (for SEO analysis)
Applebot (for Apple search and Siri)
BingBot (for Bing search engine)
Googlebot (for Google search engine)
Facebook External Hit (for social media link previews)
Lighthouse (for performance testing)
LinkedIn Bot (for LinkedIn link previews)
Pinterest (for Pinterest link previews)
Semrush Bot (for SEO and marketing analytics)
If you need to allow a bot that isn't currently listed, click on the "Submit your request here and we'll get it connected" link at the bottom of the section. This will open a communication channel with our support team, and we'll coordinate with our Development Team to evaluate and potentially add your requested bot to the whitelist.
Important Notes:
Keeping legitimate bots enabled ensures your store maintains good SEO rankings and proper functionality with third-party services.
Disabling essential bots like Googlebot may negatively impact your store's search engine visibility.
All bots in this list have been verified as safe and legitimate by the NoSpy team.
