How to manually merge orders?

Updated today

The Manual Merge feature in Order Merging gives you total precision over your fulfillment process. While automation is great for high volumes, manual merging is perfect for those times you want to review specific orders personally—like VIP customer requests or complex multi-item shipments—before combining them.

It’s a simple, step-by-step process designed to keep your inventory accurate and your shipping costs low.

To complete a manual merge, please follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to your Shopify admin and click on the "Apps" option on the sidebar menu.

2. From the list of installed applications, select and click the “Order Merging” app.

3. Once the app opens, look at the main sidebar menu on the left.

4. On the sidebar menu, click on the “Manual Merge” option.

5. On the next page, navigate to the "Search Orders" section. This is your command center for finding eligible orders.

6. In the search field, enter the details of the orders you want to merge. You can search by:

  • Customer Name

  • Email Address

  • Order Number

  • Order Tags

7. Once the relevant orders appear, select the checkboxes next to the orders you wish to combine.

8. Next, you need to Choose Your Move. You will see two primary options for how the merge is processed:

  • Update Existing: This will fold all items and details into one of the original orders, keeping that order number as the primary.

  • Create New: This will start fresh by generating a brand-new consolidated order for fulfillment, making it easier to track as a single unit.

9. If you want the selected orders to be marked as paid after merging them, click on the checkbox besides “Mark orders as paid after merge”

10. Next, select which order will receive the merged data from other orders in the dropdown section:

11. After selecting your preferred method, you will see a “Final Merged Order Preview”

12. Click the "Merge" button to merge the selected orders.

Success! Your orders are now combined. The app will automatically update your inventory levels and organize your dashboard to prevent duplicate shipping.
